The best seats in the 737
Where is the best place to sit in the Ryanair Boeing 737-800?
Anyone who has ever flown with a low-cost airline will most likely have sat in a Boeing 737-800. Where are the best seats, what do you have to look out for, we have all the answers and an overview of where the best seats are.
Boeing 737-800: The advantages and disadvantages of the seats
Depending on the airline, there are different configurations of how the classes and seats are arranged in the aircraft. In addition to the classic Business Class at LOT Airlines, this is called Premium at Ryanair. As an intermediate level between Business and Economy Class, there is also the Economy Plus class at LOT. The Boeing 737 has two emergency exits above each wing.
There is one special feature at Ryanair: row 13 does not exist. Out of consideration for superstitious passengers, Ryanair does not have row 13 on its aircraft.
In general, the front seats are more popular, regardless of the airline, and the airlines also offer premium seats there for a surcharge. In other words, if you want to sit in the front, you have to buy better seats. Depending on the duration of the flight and your own budget, you can treat yourself to this advantage. LOT offers its passengers an intermediate option with Economy Plus. As a rule, low-cost airlines also charge extra for the rows of seats at the emergency exits by the wings and these cannot be booked for free.
The window seats, especially with Ryanair, should be booked with caution. Due to the rows of seats being optimised for every centimetre of space, no consideration has been given to the alignment of the windows and so there are some window seats in the aircraft where a window is in an extremely unfavourable position. While the alignment of the windows and rows of seats at the beginning and end of the aircraft is still the most favourable, the situation becomes increasingly problematic towards the wings.
Recommendation for choosing a seat on the Boeing 737-800
As is so often the case, a general recommendation is difficult and not possible for everyone. If you are tall, you must be aware that the seats are relatively narrow and if 2-3 hours of flight time does not sound like much, you will spend a little more time in your seat with take-off and landing and until you are out of the aircraft, and most of the time strapped in. As every airline offers better seats with more space for an extra charge, it is important to weigh up whether you want to travel in the narrow seats. This is because the distance between the seats can often be as little as 71cm, which is very tight for longer legs. In general, we would not recommend booking the rearmost seats. This is where the toilets are located and the backrest cannot be folded back. It is therefore noisy, cramped and uncomfortable.
If you are afraid of turbulence, don't need the service and generally want to have a quieter experience, a window seat in the wing area is probably the best option. As long as you don't have to go to the toilet yourself, you will have the most peace and quiet here.
